miniQUIZ can be played in many ways, including as a supplement to other games. Below are our first suggestions for ways it can be played. In all the suggestions, the turn goes clockwise. “The reader” is the participant sitting to the right of the participant taking their turn. When you have played an agreed number of cards or minutes, the winner is crowned as the one with the most won cards or points. Please feel free to write to us if you have other suggestions for ways to play miniQUIZ.
Discuss and Guess
You read the questions out loud and work together to find the correct answers. It works well as an icebreaker and isn’t too competitive.
Full House
You take turns answering all the questions on a card. The participant in turn wins the card if they answer all six questions correctly.
Every Man for Himself
You take turns reading the questions from the cards, and everyone writes down their answers. One point is awarded for each correct answer.
First Come, First Served
You take turns reading a question, and everyone except the reader bids. The reader decides who answered correctly first.
Reader vs. the Rest
The reader reads all the questions on a card, and the rest of the participants must try to answer them all correctly together. If at least one question is answered incorrectly, the reader gets the card as a point. The next participant clockwise reads the next card.
You can agree on whether the rest of the participants must have 4 or 5 correct answers on each card to win the round and cheat the reader out of the point.
Lone Rider
You take turns answering a question. The participant in turn rolls a die or selects a random number between 1 and 6. The reader draws a card and reads the question with that number. If the participant in turn answers the question correctly, they get to keep the card as a point. The turn moves clockwise.
Lone Rider Against the Wind
The reader draws a card and selects the question to be answered, then reads it aloud. If the participant in turn answers correctly, they get the card as a point.
Lone Rider Against Strong Wind
Before the game begins, you agree on how many questions will be read from each card and how many correct answers are needed to win the card.
In the example below, 3 questions are read, and the participant in turn must answer at least 2 correctly to win the card. The participant in turn mentions 3 numbers between 1 and 6. The reader reads one question at a time, and the participant in turn answers. If at least 2 questions are answered correctly, they win the card. The turn moves on to the next participant clockwise.
Lone Rider Against Strong Wind Uphill
